On tabletop photography and photographed image backgrounds

Here is an example of tabletop photography. The workflow is very simple. Everything in this scene stays the same, except the subject is re-positioned or reconfigured. The processing applies the same filter stack to every image.

Relatively recently I installed a 4k TV at my desktop, to add to my multi-monitor workstation. It works well.

An incidental benefit of this set up is that it can be used for tabletop photography as a custom background. Now all of a sudden, we have a perfect white background, or any colour at all!

Typical background removal results in objects looking like they had literally been cut out and pasted onto another background. However, with this photographed image background method you get authentic background reflections onto whatever you are photographing. The difference is especially visible with round objects and edges.

Here is an example from a test shoot.
